Shreveport, LA, Passes StoveTop FireStop Ordinance
The City of Shreveport Code of Ordinances ordains in Section 30-70 that "owners and/or managers of apartment buildings containing three or more dwelling units with no automatic fire suppression sprinkler system which contain independent cooking and bathroom facilities shall install and maintain an approved, automatic, laboratory tested, fire extinguishing device designed to suppress fires over each stove located in all apartment residences."

Ordinance 1382. Est. 2009. "All multi-unit housing (two or more) without sprinkler systems must have automatic stovetop fire suppressors."

Our home state of Texas recognizes the effectiveness of StoveTop FireStop; they have established Senate Bill 139, which allows for a "reduction in homeowner's insurance and fire insurance for approved fire suppression devices*," such as StoveTop FireStop.

"New residential construction (both single- and multi-family) shall contain stove or range top fire suppression units where installation of the same in accordance with the manufacturuer's specifications is practicable."
