Fire Statistics
Cooking equipment results in an annual average of:
- 120,000 reported home fires and 12,344,000 (55.3%) unreported home fires per year, which is an average of more than one kitchen fire for every eight occupied housing units per year
- 3,660 civilian injuries
- 220 deaths
- $362 million in property damage
Many people panic at the onset of a stovetop fire and attempt to move the burning pan, which often leads to burns and major injury. Additionally, pouring water onto a grease fire can cause the fire to spread.
Automatic fire suppression is the first line of defense against stovetop fires, protecting residents from injuries.

| "You aren't going to believe this but we just got back from a kitchen fire at an apartment complex. The StoveTop FireStop was in place and extinguished the fire immediately. There was very minimal damage to the range hood and very little smoke."
